It is with great sadness that the Greensborough Football Club informs you of the passing of GFC Life Member and 3 time A-grade premiership player – Frank Le Gassick.
Frank passed on Thursday 13th March 2025, aged 94.
Frank and family lived in Mayfield Street, Greensborough. His senior playing career commenced in 1948 and continued until the end of 1963. In those16 seasons from 1948 until 1963, Greensborough made the finals 14 times, the Grand Final 9 times, and won 5 x A Grade and 2 x B Grade Premierships.
When Frank hung up the boots at the end of 1963, Frank had;
- played 193 x A Grade games and 54 x B Grade games
- been a member of the A Grade premiership teams of 1952, 1955 & 1958
- been a member of the B Grade premiership teams of 1961 (Captain) & 1962.
- received GFC Life Membership in 1961
While serving as a player, Frank also gave outstanding off-field service to the club as a tireless worker and committeeman from 1952 until 1969, where he served his final year as Vice President.
Frank Le Gassick was a local boy who loved the Boro and served it with loyalty and dedication, both on and off the field – for over 20 years. Frank epitomised the fierce competitive spirit of our great club and was dearly loved by all who knew him.
